Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th, 1991. She is an American musician and singer. She was the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released on the label on October 21 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she began gaining notoriety. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 as she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014, she released more music via the Internet including Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as on Sweat It Out on July 21 in 2015. Later that year her music began to circulate throughout the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. It was announced on December 8, that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she recorded with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. On October 21 2016 she released her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and was an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. Also, she was featured on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus with Bas and her labelmates. Ari Lennox dropped her first track Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was released, followed by a music video September. Then on November 9 the singer released two new singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. She then released on November 13 two new singles called One and Pedigree. One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang alongside Cole on the soundtrack to Creed II on November 16th. It was then released as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. The song was followed by a music video that was released on February 20, 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views on YouTube within the first week. In December 2018 she was performing as a support act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
