Kim Delaney, an American actor best known for her role as the character Detective Diane Russell on ABC's NYPD Blue series, for which she was awarded the Emmy Award. Her other credits include her roles in the drama All My Children Philly CSI: Miami and Army Wives. Delaney was born the sole child of her mother who was a homemaker and high-ranking executive of her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney lived most of her life with her four brothers. When she was a little girl, Delaney hoped to work as a reporter in the courtroom. In highschool, when she started modeling commercials, she moved to New York. She starred in 1981 as an innocent teenager in All My Children. Delaney was in numerous of television shows, films as well as dramas in the years since. Her career as a professional has been better than her personal life. Her personal life has been a mess. She's had two unsuccessful marriages and struggled with addiction issues. In 2005, the actress lost custody over her one son.
